FREE Tax Service Available to Marin Low Income Households

February 3, 2017 to April 17, 2017 | Earn it! Keep it! Save it! is a coalition of Bay Area organizations that provide free tax preparation to households earning less than $54,000 a year.

sparkpointLogo-0001As a part of the coalition, SparkPoint Marin Center is providing free tax help to qualifying households. SparkPoint Marin Center is the economic development division of Community Action Marin’s (CAM).  The goal of CAM is to eliminate the causes and consequences of poverty in Marin County.

Visit the center to see if you qualify and find out if you are eligible for the California Earned Income Tax Credit.

 Social Security card or ITIN for each person on your tax return
 W-2s from all jobs held in 2016
 All 1099s, 1098s and any other tax forms
 Last year’s tax return
 Child care provider information
 Landlord’s name, address and phone number
 for CA Renter’s Credit
 Your household’s health coverage information
 Forms 1095-A, B or C
 Savings and checking account and routing numbers for direct deposit

A one-hour presentation at the Marin County Commission on Aging’s October meeting in partnership with the Women’s Institute For a Secure Retirement (WISER). Linda K. Stone, a Fellow with WISER, will present The Impact of Running Out of Money — A  Look At Retirement Risks for Women.

Attendees will learn basic financial and retirement planning terms and concepts and techniques for staying in control of the money they have. In addition to summarizing different retirement risks for women, Ms. Stone will analyze factors across the life course that impact retirement security, and define basic financial and retirement planning terms and concepts.
